Pep Guardiola has assured Liverpool that they face a tough challenge when they visit the Etihad for Sunday’s Premier League showdown.
Manchester City return to league action following their Champions League exit, where they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the second leg, courtesy of a Kylian Mbappe hat-trick.
With their European campaign over, City are now focused on securing a top-four finish in the Premier League.
Looking ahead to the crucial clash against Liverpool, Guardiola emphasized the importance of securing points to strengthen their Champions League qualification hopes.
“We can compete with any team. Right now, we have two central defenders out for two to three months, but the Premier League remains massively important for us. We’ve played some really good games,” Guardiola said.
“We may not always be consistent, but in matches like the one against Newcastle, we’ve shown a high level. We will try to play well and get the points we need to stay in the race for Champions League qualification.”
