Another frustrating afternoon for Manchester United as they suffered their seventh loss in just thirteen home games in the Premier League.
The Red Devils were defeated 2-0 by Crystal Palace at Old Trafford, with French striker Jean-Philippe Mateta scoring both goals in the 64th and 89th minutes for the visitors from South London.
Lisandro Martínez was forced off in the 82nd minute due to what appeared to be a knee injury. The Argentine defender, who scored the match-winner against Fulham last Sunday, was replaced by former Ajax teammate Matthijs de Ligt.
Manchester United made further changes with Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund coming on for Noussair Mazraoui and Kobbie Mainoo in the 70th minute. Despite these adjustments, United, with only five wins from their thirteen home games this season, now sit 13th in the Premier League with 29 points.
Tottenham Hotspur, just behind in 14th place with 27 points, bounced back with a 2-0 win away at city rivals Brentford. Vitaly Janelt’s own goal gave Spurs the lead after 30 minutes, and Pape Sarr sealed the victory with a second goal late in the match for the team managed by Australian coach Ange Postecoglou.
