Borussia Dortmund have parted ways with head coach Nuri Sahin following a disappointing 2-1 loss to Bologna in the Champions League on Tuesday, which extended their losing streak to four matches across all competitions.

Despite feeling supported by his players, Sahin acknowledged the need for discussions with club management after the result, which left Dortmund struggling with a 13th-place standing in their group with one match remaining.

Sahin, who took charge this season, had already been under significant pressure after a string of defeats, including three consecutive losses in the Bundesliga in 2025.

Dortmund had taken a 1-0 lead in Bologna before conceding twice in quick succession midway through the second half.

As Dortmund looks for a new manager, former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is reportedly among the leading candidates.

Ten Haag, who was dismissed by United in October, has been a regular visitor to Signal Iduna Park in recent months.
