Defending champions Zamalek SC of Egypt have successfully eliminated former African champions Enyimba International from the CAF Confederation Cup, according to BSNSports.com.ng.
The two teams met in a crucial final group stage match at Cairo International Stadium on Sunday, with Enyimba needing a win to advance. However, their hopes were dashed as Zamalek triumphed 3-1.
Shalabi opened the scoring for the hosts in the 29th minute, and Jaziri extended their lead early in the second half with a goal in the 48th minute. Enyimba responded in the 57th minute, with Ihemekwele pulling one back to make it 2-1. However, Jaziri sealed Zamalek’s victory with his second goal in the 87th minute.
As a result, Enyimba finished outside the top two in their group and were eliminated from the competition at the group stage.
