Ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers resuming in March, Zimbabwe’s head coach, Michael Nees, has described Nigeria’s Super Eagles as a “wounded lion,” according to BSNSports.com.ng.

In an interview with CAF media regarding teams in their qualifying group, Nees acknowledged that Nigeria’s current position does not reflect their true potential.

He cautioned that Nigeria should not be underestimated: “In our group, Nigeria is a wounded lion and therefore very dangerous. Their potential is definitely much greater than their current standing.”

Nees also highlighted Nigeria’s strength, adding, “When you look at the players in Africa, they are undoubtedly one of the top teams.”
