Arsenal did bad business in the Premier League on Saturday night, the closest pursuer of Liverpool lost points at Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea also drew, Manchester City and Newcastle United secured three points.

Arsenal looked set for an easy afternoon as the Gunners took the lead through Ethan Nwaneri after just over fifteen minutes of play. The 17-year-old winger cut in from the right and beat goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen with a low shot.

In the second half, referee Antony Taylor awarded a penalty to the home side after William Saliba came into contact with João Pedro. The Arsenal defender and the Brighton forward clashed heads. João Pedro converted the penalty himself: 1-1.

Manchester City fans had to wait less than ten minutes for the first moment of celebration. West Ham defender Vladimír Coufal was credited with the own goal after he touched a shot from Savinho. It was the start of a carefree afternoon for the Citizens, for whom Erling Haaland scored the next two goals, both of which were assisted by Savinho. Phil Foden also added his two cents, before Niclas Füllkrug made it 4-1 for the Hammers with a consolation goal.

In the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the home team took the lead after just over three minutes, after striker Dominic Solanke outwitted the returning Botman. Two minutes later, however, it was 1-1 again via Anthony Gordon, after which Alexander Isak worked the winner behind the debuting Spurs goalkeeper Brandon Austin in the 38th minute. The Swedish striker scored in his seventh Premier League match in a row, something that in the club’s history only Alan Shearer and Joe Willock have done before him. In an entertaining second half, there were still chances on both sides, but the score remained 1-2.
