Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman has succeeded in replacing his compatriot Victor Osimhen as the winner of the 2024 African Player of the Year.

The Super Eagles winger has a splendid season for both club and country.

He was instrumental to the Super Eagles reaching the final of the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

His hatrick in the final of the UEFA Europa League ensured that Atalanta emerged the champions of the competition at the expense of the German champion Bayer Leverkusen.

The Atalanta star won the prize ahead of Ivory Coast’s Simon Adingra and PSG’s Achraf Hakimi, Guinea striker Serhou Guirassy and South Africa goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.

He also made the team of the year alongside Osimhen.

Apart Lookman, Super Falcons and Chiamaka Nnadozie also win in their respective categories.
