Former Nigeria’s Super Eagles midfielder Sunday Oliseh has backed the interim coach of the national team Austin Eguavoen for the permanent position.
Eguavoen who is also the technical director of the Nigeria Football Federation has been the interim coach of the Super Eagles since the departure of Finidi George.
He has succeeded in qualifying the team for the 2025 African Cup of Nations in Morocco but the last results against Benin and Rwanda has raised a doubt on his ability to handle the team.
While speaking on New Central Oliseh declared in a clear terms that Eguavoen has his full support.
“Austin Eguavoen is a smart guy, he is not stupid and I also want to say that he has my full support,” Oliseh said.
“He is somebody I struggled with, bringing glory to our fatherland , he is an honest and decent guy”.
“Furthermore, he is my compatriot, so he has my full support.”
