Nigeria’s Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Peter Etebo has opened up on reasons he joined the second tier team in Turkey.
The Nigerian International has been unattached for more than a season owing to Injury and joined the Turkish club Gencelebirligi this summer.
While speaking to Sports Boom, former Stoke City star said the club stood by him throughout his travails and he has no choice than to repay them.
“A lot of people were asking, ‘Why would you go to a second-division club in Turkey?’” Etebo said.
“From January till the end of the season, I didn’t pay for anything, and I trained with the group 100 per cent.”
“The coach told me, Etebo, even before you sign for any team or go anywhere, remember that these guys took care of you. That’s important.’”
