Erling Haaland failed to make history as Manchester City had to settle for a 0-0 draw in the Champions League opener against Inter.
Haaland could have reached 100 goals for Manchester City on Wednesday evening and at the same time beat Cristiano Ronaldo’s record.
Ronaldo took 105 games to score 100 times for Real Madrid and Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Inter was Haaland’s 104th appearance for City.
In the first half, Haaland was in a few dangerous situations, but the big chances did not materialize.
Inter could be most satisfied after a first half where the Italians were compact in defense and created good counter shots, where too many wrong decisions were made in the decisive situations.
Worse for City was that Kevin De Bruyne was injured at the end of the first half, so the Belgian was replaced at half-time.
Haaland can still equal Ronaldo’s record by scoring in the next match, which will, therefore, be the Norwegian’s number 105.
