Former Swiss International Xherdan Shaqiri has signed a three-year contract to return to FC Basel.
The 32-year-old spent the last three seasons at MLS side Chicago Fire having played in the Premier League for Liverpool and Stoke.
He announced his retirement from the game earlier in the week following the expiration of his contract with the American club.
He returns to Swiss Super League side Basel where he started his career.
Shaqiri netted 14 goals in 69 appearances for Chicago Fire.
