Team Nigeria will compete in the mixed 4x100m relay final at the World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest, Hungary, after qualifying with an Area Record of 40.24 seconds in Gaborone, Botswana.

The Nigerian quartet secured their place in the straight final, which is scheduled for Friday at 6:08pm Nigerian time.

Nigeria will face strong opposition from Jamaica, Great Britain, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, the United States, Spain and hosts Hungary in the highly anticipated final.

Two members of Nigeria’s mixed relay team, Tobi Amusan and Udodi Onwuzurike, will also compete in individual events during the championships.

Amusan is set to contest the women’s 100m hurdles on Friday, the same day as the mixed 4x100m final, while Onwuzurike will compete in the men’s 200m on Sunday.

Nigeria will be hoping to build on its impressive qualifying performance and secure a strong finish against some of the world’s leading sprinting nations.
