Nigerian football refereeing has been thrown into mourning following the death of Plateau State referee, Aweng Solomon Maram.

Maram reportedly collapsed while participating in a fitness test at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Tuesday.

The referee, who officiated in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), was said to have been running during the fitness assessment when he suddenly collapsed.

Despite efforts to assist him, Maram later passed away.
