Erling Haaland scored a late brace to inspire Norway to a 2-1 victory over Brazil, bringing the South Americans’ 2026 FIFA World Cup title ambitions to an end.

Brazil had the opportunity to take the lead in the first half after being awarded a penalty, but Bruno GuimarĂ£es failed to convert from the spot.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 79th minute when Haaland found the back of the net to give Norway the lead. The Manchester City striker struck again in the 89th minute, doubling his side’s advantage and putting the result beyond Brazil’s reach.

Brazil pulled one back in stoppage time through Neymar, who calmly converted a late penalty, but it was not enough to prevent elimination as Norway held on for a memorable 2-1 victory.

Haaland’s clinical display proved decisive as Norway advanced, while Brazil’s hopes of lifting the 2026 FIFA World Cup came to a disappointing end.
