Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons, have recorded a full turnout in camp ahead of their international friendly double-header against Senegal, as the Lionesses of Teranga arrived in Ikenne-Remo on Tuesday night.
The nine-time African champions will host Senegal in the first leg on Friday, before the visitors assume nominal home status for the return fixture on Monday.
Both matches are scheduled to kick off at 4 p.m. at the Remo Stars Sports Complex.
Head Coach Justine Madugu has assembled a balanced squad blending experience with emerging talent, as preparations intensify for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
However, the team will be without midfielder Halimat Ayinde, who has been ruled out of both fixtures.
In her place, Israel-based midfielder Josephine Matthias has been drafted into the squad.
Meanwhile, forward Gift Monday was the only player still expected in camp as of Wednesday evening.
The Falcons’ roster features a strong core of seasoned internationals including Asisat Oshoala, Francisca Ordega, Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Rasheedat Ajibade and Christy Ucheibe.
They are joined by promising talents such as goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor, defenders Shukurat Oladipo and Rofiat Imuran, as well as midfielders and forwards including Kafayat Shittu, Joy Omewa, Omorinsola Babajide and Blessing Nkor.
Nigeria, aiming for a record-extending 11th WAFCON title, have been drawn in Group C alongside Egypt, Zambia and debutants Malawi. Senegal, on their part, will compete in Group A with hosts Morocco, Algeria and Kenya.
The tournament, scheduled to take place from July 25 to August 16 in Morocco, will also serve as the African qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The top four teams will secure automatic qualification to Brazil, while the fifth-placed side will enter an intercontinental playoff for a chance to reach the global showpiece.
