Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi has completed the full acquisition of Spanish lower-division side UE Cornellà, securing 100 percent ownership of the club.

The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner finalised the deal earlier this week, officially becoming the outright owner of the Catalonia-based outfit, which currently competes in Spain’s third-tier structure.

UE Cornellà are presently third in their Tercera División group, trailing league leaders CE Manresa by five points.

With a playoff spot already guaranteed, the club remains firmly in contention for promotion.

Messi’s move into club ownership mirrors a growing trend among elite footballers transitioning into football business ventures.

The Argentine follows long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo, who earlier this year invested in Spanish side UD Almería.

The development marks a significant step in Messi’s off-field career as he expands his footprint within the global football ecosystem.
