Sporting Lagos have sealed their return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after edging Osun United 1-0 in a decisive encounter on Thursday.
Alex Leme proved to be the hero for the Lagos-based side, netting the only goal of the match in the 17th minute to confirm their promotion.
Under the guidance of head coach Jeffrey Butler, Sporting Lagos bounced back to the top flight after a two-year absence, capping off an impressive campaign. They finished top of Conference B with 36 points from 18 matches.
In the same conference, Akwa United ended the season in second position despite securing a 2-1 victory over Solution FC.
Michael Okenwa extended Akwa United’s lead shortly after the opener, while Solution FC managed to pull one back late in the game.
Sporting Lagos now join Inter Lagos and Doma United, who had earlier confirmed their promotion to the NPFL.
