Nigerian international Taiwo Awoniyi has reaffirmed his commitment to helping Nottingham Forest in their fight to avoid relegation from the Premier League.
The Super Eagles forward, who has endured an injury-hit campaign, admitted that the closing stages of the season will be crucial for the club’s survival ambitions.
Forest have struggled for consistency throughout the campaign and currently find themselves battling to remain in the top flight, with just a handful of matches left to play.
Speaking on the situation, Awoniyi stressed the importance of collective effort as the team prepares for a decisive run-in.
“I think these last seven games will be vital for the club. It’s not just about me; it’s about the entire squad everyone understands our position and what is required of us,” he said.
The former Union Berlin striker also highlighted the broader implications of relegation, noting that it goes beyond results on the pitch.
“A relegation battle is something you never want to experience. When you consider the business side of the game, many people could lose their jobs, and the fans will be devastated. My only focus is doing whatever I can to make people happy; I will give my absolute best,” Awoniyi added.
Awoniyi’s return to fitness is expected to provide a timely boost for Forest as they aim to secure enough points to preserve their Premier League status.
