Turkish Super Lig giants Galatasaray have confirmed that Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has undergone a successful surgery following an injury sustained in the UEFA Champions League.
Osimhen was forced off during Galatasaray’s away clash against Liverpool in the Round of 16, raising concerns over the severity of the injury.
In an official statement released by the club, Galatasaray confirmed that the Nigerian international had a successful operation at the Maslak Acıbadem Hospital.
“Our player Victor Osimhen, who was injured and unable to continue playing in our away match against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, underwent a successful operation today at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital, performed by our club doctor, Op. Dr. Yener İnce,” the statement read.
The club further expressed optimism over the striker’s recovery, wishing him a swift return to action.
“We wish our player a speedy recovery and hope he returns to the pitch as soon as possible.”
Osimhen’s absence will be a significant blow for Galatasaray as they continue their campaign both domestically and in Europe, with the Nigerian striker playing a key role in their attacking setup this season.
