The proposed Finalissima clash between Spain national football team, winners of UEFA Euro 2024, and Argentina national football team, champions of Copa América 2024, has been cancelled following disagreements over the venue and scheduling arrangements.

The match, which was initially scheduled for March 27 in Doha, Qatar, could not go ahead due to the current political situation in the region.

In an attempt to save the fixture, Union of European Football Associations explored the possibility of staging the game at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid, with an arrangement that would allow an equal 50–50 split of supporters from both nations inside the stadium.

However, the proposal was rejected by Argentina.

Another option put forward was to play the match over two legs  the first at the Santiago Bernabéu on March 27 and the return leg in Buenos Aires during a future international window before UEFA Euro 2028 and Copa América 2028.

This proposal was also turned down, leaving organizers with no viable alternative.

The Finalissima, a one-off match between the champions of Europe and South America, is jointly organized by UEFA and CONMEBOL.

The last edition of the competition was held in 2022, when Argentina defeated Italy national football team 3–0 at Wembley Stadium in London.

With no agreement reached between the parties involved, the highly anticipated encounter between the two continental champions will no longer take place as planned.
