Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has revealed that the team’s primary objective at the upcoming 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations is to secure qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Uncertainty still surrounds the host nation for the 2026 WAFCON, but the Super Falcons shot-stopper said their immediate focus is on booking a place at the World Cup rather than putting pressure on themselves to defend the continental title.
The Brighton & Hove Albion Women goalkeeper explained that qualification for the global tournament remains the priority for the team.
“We are not aiming for the trophy for now. Personally, the goal is to qualify for the World Cup.
We don’t want to put pressure on ourselves; let’s just qualify, get the ticket for the World Cup and whatever happens, happens,” she said.
“I believe in the team, I believe in the girls, and I hope when we get there, we can make changes.”
