Bayern Munich are in front in the race to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, with the Bundesliga champions identifying the forward as a key option in their long-term attacking plans.
Osimhen, currently on the books of Galatasaray, has emerged on Bayern’s shortlist as the club begin preparations for life after Harry Kane.
The Bavarians are said to be assessing options capable of leading the line in the coming seasons, and Osimhen’s profile has received internal approval.
Head coach Vincent Kompany is understood to have endorsed the striker’s qualities, viewing his pace, physicality and proven goal-scoring record as fitting the tactical structure he intends to implement.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain have stepped back from any potential move for the 25-year-old.
The French champions are reportedly reluctant to proceed due to Osimhen’s salary expectations and the sizeable transfer fee required to secure his services. In addition, manager Luis Enrique is said to be unconvinced about pursuing the deal under the current financial parameters.
Elsewhere, Manchester United, Juventus and Atletico Madrid have yet to make any concrete approach, despite previous links with the Nigerian international.
With Bayern now emerging as the most proactive suitor, the coming weeks could prove decisive in determining Osimhen’s next destination as Europe’s elite clubs reshape their attacking options ahead of the new season.
