Nigeria international defender Semi Ajayi is edging closer to a return from injury, according to Hull City assistant coach Dean Holden.
Ajayi, who has been sidelined for the past few months due to injury, is making steady progress in his recovery and could soon be back in contention for selection at the English Championship side.
Holden provided an update on the lanky centre-back’s condition on Tuesday afternoon, expressing optimism about his rehabilitation process.
“Semi (Ajayi) is going well, but again, not back in the team training just yet,” Holden told Hull Live.
The former West Bromwich Albion defender has been a key figure for both club and country, and his imminent return will come as welcome news for Nigeria’s national team handlers.
Ajayi’s availability would represent a significant boost for the Nigeria national football team ahead of their double-header international friendly matches scheduled for March, as preparations intensify for upcoming competitive fixtures.
