Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has been named Nottingham Forest’s Goal of the Month winner for January.
The Nigerian forward earned the accolade for his brilliant finish in Forest’s 2-0 win over Brentford late in the month.
Awoniyi latched onto a pass from Morgan Gibbs-White, surged into the Brentford penalty area, and rifled a powerful shot past goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
The strike marked his first goal of the season for the Tricky Trees and stood out among seven other nominated goals.
The 28-year-old has made limited league appearances for Nottingham Forest this campaign, but his decisive moment against Brentford has now been rewarded with the club’s monthly honour.
