Club Brugge head coach Ivan Leko has dismissed reports claiming that Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika has reached an agreement to join Turkish giants Galatasaray.
Onyedika has been strongly linked with a move away from the Belgian champions in recent weeks, with speculation suggesting that the Nigerian international had already agreed personal terms with Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray.
However, Leko has played down the rumours, insisting that there is no indication the midfielder is on his way out of the club.
“Nobody told me he’s leaving,” Leko told Voetbalnieuws. “What I’ve seen? He’s training with us again, he’s in good spirits, and he’s behaving normally. I see no reason why Rapha can’t play. He’ll be in the squad.”
The Club Brugge boss further stressed that transfer speculation is part of football but maintained his calm stance regarding Onyedika’s future.
“People are chattering and speculating about transfers, but I’m staying calm. We’ll see what happens. We’ll only know more when the transfer window is over.
But I’m not worried about Onyedika. I’ve been in football for thirty years: I’m not stupid,” he added.
Onyedika has been a key figure for Club Brugge this season, and the club appears relaxed about his situation as the transfer window continues to unfold.
