Fresh from his involvement at the African Cup of Nations, Nigerian forward Paul Onuachu delivered a match-winning performance on Friday evening as Trabzonspor secured a 2-1 victory over Kasimpasa.
The Super Eagles striker broke the deadlock in the 51st minute, calmly finishing to put the hosts ahead and cap a strong individual display at the Papara Park.
Kasimpasa responded with an equaliser through Diabaté, who found the net to restore parity and set up a tense final phase of the encounter.
However, Trabzonspor regained the lead in the 81st minute when Zubkov struck the decisive goal, sealing all three points for the home side and ensuring a positive return to league action.
The win further underlined Onuachu’s importance to Trabzonspor, as the Nigerian forward continues to make a strong impact following his return from international duty.
