Ahead of the 2026 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, Zambia head coach Nora Elizabeth Hauptle has issued a stern warning to Nigeria’s Super Falcons, signaling that her team is ready for a tough challenge.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) conducted the tournament draw on Thursday in Rabat, placing Zambia and Nigeria in the same group.
Reacting to the draw on Friday, Hauptle acknowledged the quality of the Super Falcons but stressed her team’s readiness.
“I know Nigeria well, so I’m excited. For me, it’s cool that we can start the tournament strong, and we need to raise the bar to 100% from the very beginning,” Hauptle said.
She also highlighted the importance of not underestimating other group opponents.
“It’s no warm-up time. We have a good group, but also Malawi never underestimate them. They have top players in the NWSL and in France,” she added.
Zambia will now focus on preparing for what promises to be a competitive group stage, with Hauptle determined to make her mark early in the tournament.
