Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has raised concerns over the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) continued preference for Morocco as host of major continental competitions.

Oshoala’s comments come amid growing debate within African football circles over the North African country’s frequent selection to stage high-profile tournaments in recent years.

Morocco has hosted, or been awarded the hosting rights to, several major CAF events, a trend that has sparked discussions about balance, fairness, and broader development across the continent.

Taking to social media, the former Barcelona Femeni star openly questioned CAF’s approach, suggesting that the repeated allocation of tournaments to one country risks sidelining other capable nations.

“The big question here is when will this whole CAF compensation Morocco end. Award tournaments all…it’s getting boring now. We need other countries to step up. Everything concerning African football happens in Morocco, feels like that’s the new HQ,” Oshoala wrote.

Her remarks reflect a growing sentiment among stakeholders who believe CAF should encourage wider participation by distributing hosting rights more evenly, thereby promoting infrastructure development and football growth across different regions of Africa.

CAF is yet to respond officially to Oshoala’s comments, but the debate is expected to intensify as the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations approaches and future hosting decisions come under increased scrutiny.
