Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has expressed disappointment over the absence of team captain Wilfred Ndidi from Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final clash.

Ndidi will miss Wednesday’s encounter after picking up a booking during Nigeria’s quarter-final victory over Algeria, a caution that resulted in an automatic one-match suspension.

Speaking to reporters in Rabat on Tuesday, Chelle admitted the midfielder’s absence is a major setback for the team.

“I am disappointed that our captain will not participate in tomorrow’s match, as his influence on the team is substantial,” said the former Mali tactician.

The Leicester City midfielder has been a key figure for the Super Eagles throughout the tournament, providing leadership, tactical discipline, and balance in midfield.

Ndidi’s suspension means he will play no part in the semi-final, forcing Chelle to make adjustments as Nigeria targets a place in the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
