Nigeria’s U17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, have been drawn bye in the first round of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers following the draw conducted on Sunday.

By virtue of the draw, the Flamingos will begin their qualifying campaign in the second round, where they are scheduled to face the winner of the first-round tie between Niger and Guinea.

The two-legged second-round encounter is slated for late May 2026, with the first leg billed for May 22–24, while the return leg will take place a week later.

Nigeria’s bye reflects the team’s strong pedigree in the competition in recent years, as the Flamingos continue their quest to secure another appearance at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.
