The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Senegalese referee Issa Sy to take charge of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final clash between Algeria and Nigeria
The highly anticipated encounter will see the Super Eagles face the Desert Foxes in a decisive tie for a place in the semi-finals of the tournament.
Issa Sy is no stranger to officiating at the ongoing championship, having previously served as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) during the group-stage match between Morocco and Tanzania.
CAF’s decision brings clarity to the officiating arrangements for the fixture, which has attracted significant attention due to the rivalry and recent tension surrounding referee appointments at the tournament.
Both teams will be hoping for a fair and well-managed contest as they battle for continental supremacy.
