Former Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong has expressed pride in the Super Eagles’ impressive performance at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Despite not being part of the current squad, the Saudi Arabia-based centre-back praised the team’s mentality and quality, while reiterating his confidence in their ability to go far in the competition.
Ekong revealed he was delighted with how the Super Eagles navigated the group stage, finishing with a perfect record and displaying strong character throughout their matches.
“I felt immense pride watching Nigeria reach the group stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a perfect record, playing with hunger, character, and unwavering belief,” Ekong said.
“The talent is there, the spirit is strong, and I have no doubt the team will continue to inspire millions back home. My love for the Super Eagles will never fade.”
The Super Eagles have been one of the standout teams at the tournament so far and will be hoping to maintain their momentum as they progress into the knockout stages.
