England-born midfielder of Nigerian descent, Chibuike Ugochukwu, has signed his first professional contract with French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais.
The 17-year-old has been rewarded for his impressive development at the club and is expected to link up immediately with the Rennes first-team squad as preparations continue for the season.
Chibuike is the younger brother of Burnley midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu, who also began his professional career at Stade Rennais before moving on to establish himself in European football.
The signing further underlines Rennes’ reputation for developing young talents, with the club once again placing trust in a promising teenager.
Despite being born in England, Chibuike Ugochukwu remains eligible to represent Nigeria at international level, just like his elder brother, keeping his future international allegiance open.
