The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Malam Shehu Dikko, has confirmed that Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Super Falcons and D’Tigress will soon receive their long-awaited rewards, including cash incentives, houses and national honours.
Dikko made the disclosure during an interview on Arise TV on Friday, where he assured Nigerians that all necessary approvals and documentation have been completed under the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to the former League Management Company chairman, the President has already approved the allocation of houses and land for members of the Super Eagles, as well as the national awards and financial rewards promised to the Super Falcons. He added that the benefits for D’Tigress have also been fully processed.
“I can tell you Mr President has already approved the houses and the land for the Super Eagles and the national awards and the monies for the Super Falcons. All that has been processed,” Dikko said.
He further revealed that the documentation for the housing allocations is already in his possession.
“As I speak to you, I have in my possession all the Certificates of Occupancy for the houses of the players in Lagos and Abuja for both the Super Eagles, Super Falcons and D’Tigress,” he stated.
Dikko also confirmed that the certificates for the national honours have been secured, while the financial aspect of the rewards is at an advanced stage.
“I have all the certificates for the national awards. The money has been processed and is at the payment point at the Accountant General’s Office,” he added.
The confirmation comes as a major boost for the athletes, who have been awaiting the fulfilment of government promises following their recent exploits on the continental and global stage.
