The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially inaugurated the FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS) for Girls at the Noble Hall Leadership Academy in Abuja.
The initiative follows the successful launch of a similar programme for boys two years ago and is aimed at strengthening grassroots football development across the country, with a focus on nurturing young female talents.
The FIFA-supported scheme is designed to provide technical, financial and structural support to member associations, helping them to identify, develop and properly transition young players into elite football environments.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, NFF officials described the programme as a major step towards bridging the gap in youth football development and boosting the future of women’s football in Nigeria.
The TDS for Girls is expected to serve as a long-term pathway for discovering and grooming the next generation of Super Falcons and other national women’s youth teams.
The NFF reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with FIFA and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the project across the country.
