Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie delivered a standout performance as Brighton & Hove Albion secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over London City Lionesses on Sunday.
Kiko Seike scored the only goal of the match in the sixth minute to give Brighton an early advantage, a lead that proved enough thanks largely to Nnadozie’s heroics in goal.
After the early breakthrough, the hosts dominated large spells of the game, but Nnadozie produced four crucial saves in the first half to keep the Lionesses at bay. The Nigerian shot-stopper remained composed in the second half as the visitors intensified the pressure, denying several efforts to preserve Brighton’s narrow lead.
Nnadozie’s impressive outing adds to her growing reputation, having recently won the WSL Save of the Month award for October.
Following the win, Brighton remain seventh on the Women’s Super League table with 14 points and will face defending champions Chelsea in their next league fixture.
