Arsenal’s advantage at the top of the Premier League has been reduced to five points after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The Gunners went into the London derby aware that both Manchester City and Liverpool had secured victories in their respective fixtures. City edged Leeds United 3-2 on Saturday, while Liverpool defeated West Ham 2-0.
Arsenal appeared to be heading for a straightforward win when Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo was sent off in the first half following a VAR review for a dangerous challenge on Mikel Merino.
Despite going down to 10 men, Chelsea opened the scoring through Trevor Chalobah. Arsenal eventually found a response, with Merino heading home the equaliser.
After 13 matches, Arsenal sit on 30 points, while Chelsea follow with 24.
