Real Sociedad forward Edna Imade has officially pledged her international future to Spain, ending speculation about a potential switch to Nigeria.

Born in Morocco to Nigerian parents but raised in Spain, the 25-year-old was on Friday named in the Spanish national team squad for their UEFA Nations League double-header against Germany, scheduled for November 28 and December 2.

Her call-up effectively closes the door on any chances of representing the Super Falcons, despite previously expressing interest in playing for Nigeria. Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu had earlier acknowledged the difficulty in securing her commitment to the African champions.

Imade currently plays for Real Sociedad on loan from Bayern Munich, and has been in impressive form this season, scoring seven goals and providing three assists.

Her decision is seen as a major boost for Spain while representing a significant loss for Nigeria.
