Nigeria will be without influential midfielder Wilfred Ndidi for Sunday’s crucial 2026 World Cup playoff final against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Leicester City star is suspended after receiving an early yellow card in the Super Eagles’ 4–1 extra-time victory over Gabon in Thursday’s semi-final encounter.
Ndidi’s absence is a major blow for Nigeria, as Sunday’s clash will decide who advances to the FIFA Inter-Continental Playoff set for March 2026.
However, head coach Eric Sékou Chelle has been handed a boost with the return of defender Semi Ajayi, who missed the Gabon fixture due to suspension after picking up multiple yellow cards earlier in the competition.
The high-stakes showdown against DR Congo will take place at the newly constructed Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.
