Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, has confirmed that the team’s bonus and allowance dispute has been settled ahead of Thursday’s crucial World Cup playoff semi-final against Gabon in Rabat.

The Nigerian squad had on Tuesday boycotted training over unpaid allowances and bonuses, creating tension in camp just days before the decisive encounter.

However, in a post shared on his official X account, Ekong assured fans that the issue had been fully resolved and the team is now focused on the task ahead.

“Issue RESOLVED. Outstanding financials cleared and on ground. Team is UNITED and focused as before on representing NIGERIA with our maximum for the games ahead! @NGSuperEagles,” the centre-back wrote.

Ekong reiterated that the players are fully committed to giving their best as they aim to secure qualification in the ongoing World Cup playoffs.

Nigeria will face the Panthers of Gabon on Thursday at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat, Morocco.
