Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi has been appointed as the new goalkeeper coach for South African professional side Future of Africa, newly promoted to the GDL division.

The club confirmed Akpeyi’s appointment on Wednesday, describing him as a “valuable addition” to their technical team as they prepare for life in the higher division.

Akpeyi enjoyed an illustrious playing career in South Africa, turning out for Chippa United and Kaizer Chiefs, where he earned widespread respect for his consistency and leadership.

With this appointment, Akpeyi becomes another Nigerian to take up a coaching role in South Africa after Greg Etafia, who has also worked in similar capacity with clubs in the country.

The former Nigeria international is expected to bring his wealth of experience to help nurture young goalkeepers at Future of Africa.
