The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the four additional teams that will complete the lineup for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WÀFCON) in Morocco.
Following the expansion of the tournament from 12 to 16 teams, CAF has awarded the remaining four slots based on the latest FIFA women’s rankings. The nations that received the additional qualification places are Cameroon (66th), Côte d’Ivoire (71st), Mali (79th), and Egypt (95th).
Twelve other nations had already booked their places through the October 2025 qualifying series. Among them are the defending champions, Nigeria’s Super Falcons, who clinched their record-extending 10th continental title in Morocco last July after edging the hosts 3–2 in a thrilling final.
The 2026 WÀFCON will kick off in March 2026, marking the first edition of the competition to feature 16 teams a move aimed at further promoting women’s football across the African continent.
