Nigeria’s Super Falcons have booked their place at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco after overcoming the Benin Republic over two legs.
The nine-time African champions confirmed their qualification with a 1-1 draw against Benin in the second leg encounter played at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.
The Super Falcons had earlier secured a comfortable 2-0 victory in the first leg held in Lome, Togo, on Friday giving them the advantage heading into the return fixture.
Ashleigh Plumptre gave Nigeria an early lead in the 12th minute after a well-taken strike, but Benin fought back strongly in the second half, and Yasiminath Djbiril equalised to level the scoreline.
Despite Benin’s spirited display, the Nigerian ladies held firm to progress 3-1 on aggregate and sealed their ticket to Morocco 2026.
With the qualification now confirmed, the Super Falcons will aim to defend the continental crown they last won in 2024
