Nigeria’s Super Falcons head coach, Justin Madugu, has admitted that the team will greatly miss star midfielder Jennifer Echegini in their 2026 WAFCON qualifying match against Benin Republic.
Echegini was ruled out of the encounter after sustaining an injury last Sunday, a setback Madugu described as unfortunate.
“We have a team that will go out there and make us proud. Yes, we would have loved to have Jennifer (Echegini), but we don’t, and we can only pray for her quick recovery,” Madugu told NFF media
He added that the team remains focused on securing a strong result in the first leg.
“On Friday, we’ll go out and play our game, looking for the goals that will give us an advantage ahead of the return leg,” he stated.
The second leg is scheduled for next Tuesday at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.
