CAF releases nominees for 2025 awards

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially unveiled the nominees for the 2025 CAF Awards, recognizing outstanding performances by players, goalkeepers, and national teams across the continent.

In the Player of the Year (Men) category, familiar names headline the list with Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, and Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen among the top contenders. Other nominees include Fiston Mayele (DR Congo), Denis Bouanga, Oussama Lamloui (Morocco), Serhou Guirassy (Guinea), Iliman Ndiaye (Senegal), Pape Matar Sarr (Senegal), and Frank Anguissa (Cameroon).

The Goalkeeper of the Year (Men) category features a strong lineup led by Andre Onana (Cameroon), Yassine Bounou (Morocco), and Stanley Nwabali (Nigeria). Others on the list include Vozinha (Cape Verde), Ahmed El Shenawy (Egypt), Munir Mohamedi (Morocco), Edouard Mendy (Senegal), Marc Diouf (Senegal), Ronwen Williams (South Africa), and Aymen Dahmen (Tunisia).

For the prestigious National Team of the Year (Men) award, the nominees are Algeria, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Morocco, Morocco U-20, Senegal, South Africa, and Tunisia — recognizing the nations that shone in continental and global competitions.

The Young Player of the Year (Men) category highlights Africa’s emerging stars, with nominees including Asharaf Tapsoba (Burkina Faso), Alynho Haidara (Côte d’Ivoire), Noah Sadiki (DR Congo), Abdellah Ouazane, Houssam Essadak, and Othmane Maamma (all from Morocco), Daniel Bameyi (Nigeria), Momoh Kamara (Sierra Leone), Mbekezile Mbokazi, and Tylon Smith (both from South Africa).

The winners will be announced at the CAF Awards 2025 Gala, where Africa’s finest talents will be honored for their achievements over the past year.
