WAFCON 2026Q: Super Falcons intensify preparations ahead of Benin clash

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have stepped up their preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against the Amazons of Benin Republic, set to take place in Lome, Togo.

The team opened camp on Monday at the Hotel Sarakawa base, with eleven players already on ground as preparations gather momentum.

Nine players, including captain Asisat Oshoala, Folashade Ijamilusi, Taiwo Afolabi, and Miracle Usani, featured in the first training session. Others in camp are Joy Omewa, Anderline Mgbechi, Blessing Illivieda, and Kafayat Mafisere.

Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and midfielder Christy Ucheibe later joined up with the squad to boost the team’s build-up.

Benin Republic will host the first leg at the Stade de Kégué in Lome on Friday, while the return leg will take place at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta, next Tuesday.
