The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially appointed Nigerian international Asisat Oshoala as one of its ambassadors.

The Super Falcons forward, who currently plays for Bay FC in the United States, has been one of the most consistent figures in African women’s football over the past decade.

Oshoala holds the record for the most Women’s African Player of the Year awards, winning the prestigious title six times — an unprecedented feat in the continent’s football history.

Her appointment is seen as a recognition of her outstanding contribution to the growth and visibility of women’s football in Africa, as well as her influence as a role model for aspiring female athletes across the continent.

CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe described Oshoala as “a true symbol of excellence and inspiration for African football,” noting that her journey from Lagos streets to global stardom embodies the spirit of African talent and resilience.

The 30-year-old forward will now work closely with CAF in promoting women’s football initiatives, youth development, and major competitions across the continent.
