Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has been handed a major boost ahead of next month’s World Cup qualifiers, with striker Cyriel Dessers on course to regain full fitness.

The Rangers forward, who was included in Nigeria’s 31-man squad for the doubleheader against Rwanda and South Africa despite nursing an injury, is edging closer to a return.

Rangers manager Russell Martin confirmed that Dessers could feature in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League second-leg qualifier.

“I think it happens in football, but I’ll go back to Cyriel again. He’s working really hard to get fit, but he’s not there yet; he’ll probably be fit for Wednesday,” Martin told Rangers Review.

He further praised the Nigerian’s commitment: “He’s made his intentions and desire very clear. He trains properly, performs with the team, and has been great. But everyone is different every human being is different.”
