Nigeria’s Super Eagles reignited their 2026 World Cup qualification hopes with a commanding 2-0 victory over Rwanda on Friday.

Needing a crucial win to stay in contention, the three-time African champions dominated from the start at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali. Their early pressure paid off when Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen opened the scoring in the 11th minute.

Despite the home support, Rwanda’s Amavubi struggled to maintain possession and cope with Nigeria’s attacking trio of Osimhen, Moses Simon, and Ademola Lookman.

Osimhen doubled the lead just before halftime, capitalizing on a defensive error to chip the ball over the goalkeeper.

Rwanda pushed for a comeback in the second half, but Nigeria held firm to secure all three points and keep their World Cup dream alive.
