Jerome Akor Adams has been ruled out of Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa after picking up an injury.

The Sevilla forward sustained a muscle problem in his left thigh during last weekend’s 3-1 home defeat to Getafe. The Spanish club confirmed on Wednesday that the 25-year-old will also sit out their upcoming LaLiga fixture against Girona.

Adams was included in Nigeria’s provisional squad for the qualifiers against the Amavubi of Rwanda and South Africa’s Bafana Bafana, marking what would have been his first call-up to the Super Eagles.

Since joining Sevilla from Ligue 1 side Montpellier in January, the striker has endured a difficult spell with recurring fitness issues.
